Phoenix, Arizona—Guadalupe Najera Bautista, age 33, was killed and eight other occupants of her car were injured yesterday afternoon when a tire tread separation caused Ms. Bautista to lose control of her car. The car overturned on the side of the Interstate 10 Freeway near 35th Avenue.
The injured adult passenger, Eva Meza Reyna, age 49 of Phoenix, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment of reportedly minor injuries.
The seven children, ranging in age from 5 to 10 years, received only minor injuries.
We extend our sympathy to the family and friends of Ms. Bautista, and we wish all other passengers speedy and complete recoveries.
